Behind The Name

Charles Michael Vaughan - John really wanted a sister, so to make him feel more involved with having another brother, I allowed him to pick out his first name. He absolutely loved his big goofy dog, Charlie, that we used to have and insisted it was the best name. I felt it was a good name, but wanted to know other suggestions. Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard were the other contenders (according to John). So, between Zak and I it was unanimously decided that Charles would be the first name give those options.

This child will be our last, and will coincidentally born in the same month our first was. Though we do not believe in naming our child after people, John was named as such because every first born son in the Price family carries that name - which, of course, is his Poppy's name. Every one of our sons have a Hebrew name, and this child needed one too. Perhaps we could end with another Grandfather's name - Michael? Again, not naming the child after him, but it definitely fits the other fields I was trying to fill to satisfy my OCD tendencies.

As all of you know, Zak and I were penpals online before we met in person. Where we first met, a year after we started dating online was at Canada's Wonderland, located in the city of Vaughan. Our last child will get the honor to carry this name.

Lily Serena Belle - Never having a girl before, we had so many names that we loved. Emmy, Kailey, Sophie, Zoe, Eve, etc. It was really hard to narrow down our choices. I was listening to a song one day titled Lily by Joan Baez, and at one part it said, "She had four older brothers that I used to dream about...". What other song would be that specific? At that point, I knew that it was her name. Other family members mentioned how Zak's grandmother (who had five sons, no daughters) had a Grandfather Lilly that she deeply admired. Plus, John added that Lily was a girl in Pokemon, so we also had his approval.

There is no rhyme or reason why we chose to have Serena. When I was pregnant with the twins, had I had a girl, one of her middle names was to be Serenity. There is something about these serene names that I love. So gentle and delicate. Again, John was quick to point out that there was also a Serena in the Pokemon series - another go.

Another middle name that one of the twins would have had had they been a girl - Belle. Perhaps it's because she is my favorite Disney Princess, or because I loved the name Isabel, but didn't want a trendy name. Again, I will only have one daughter, and I wanted her name to be elegant, and beautiful. Her father and I tried to give her just that.
